Automotive Body-in-White (BIW), robotic resistance spot welding, galvanized and high-strength steel sheet assembly, HVAC and electrical enclosures, white goods, and precision sheet-metal joining.

Manufacturing Category

Precision Turned Parts / Finish-Machined Copper Components. Prototype, pilot, and repeat-production supply can be configured to the customer drawing and annual volume.

Process & Manufacturing Insights
Manufacturing Route
The process is selected around alloy, geometry, and annual volume. Parts may be CNC machined from copper-alloy stock or finish-machined from formed preforms where appropriate. This allows the project to balance material use, grain flow, dimensional control, tooling investment, and recurring unit cost instead of forcing one route onto every electrode design.
Female Taper & Shank Fit
For ISO-style female caps, dimensions and tolerances can be specified to ISO 5821:2025, with taper geometry referenced to ISO 1089. Customer-specific tapers and reverse engineering from an approved cap or mating shank are also supported. Critical fit surfaces are defined on the drawing and verified with suitable gauges or dimensional inspection.
Weld Face Geometry
Flat, domed, radius, truncated-cone, offset, and project-specific nose profiles can be produced. Face diameter, nose angle, corner radius, tip length, and dressing allowance should be tied to the welding schedule, sheet stack, coating system, and dresser strategy rather than treated as universal values.

Key Features & Sunmy Manufacturing Advantages

Built Around Your Welding Process

Instead of forcing a catalog cap into an existing welding gun, Sunmy can adjust the taper, OD, overall length, face diameter, nose angle, radius, and access clearances around the customer shank, sheet stack, and dressing strategy.

Process Route Matched to Cost & Metallurgy

Machined-from-stock and formed-preform plus finish-machining routes can be reviewed against volume, alloy, and geometry. The selected route is documented in the quotation so purchasing can compare tooling cost, recurring price, and technical risk on the same basis.

Repeatable Fit & Weld-Face Geometry

Critical taper, runout, and nose geometry are controlled to the approved drawing. Consistent fit supports repeatable seating on the electrode adaptor; actual weld quality and cap life still depend on current, force, cooling, sheet coating, maintenance, and dressing conditions.

OEM / ODM Custom Manufacturing Support

Sunmy can manufacture electrode caps together with related turned copper components, adapters, shanks, brackets, and custom fixtures when included in the project scope. Each item is quoted with its material, inspection, finishing, and supply boundary clearly identified.

Technical FAQ (B2B Buyer Guidance)
Q1 How should we select the copper alloy for our welding application?
CuCrZr C18150 is widely used in RWMA Class 2 resistance-welding electrode applications, but the final choice should follow the sheet grade and coating, weld current, electrode force, cooling, duty cycle, and dressing method. If your drawing already specifies the alloy and temper, we manufacture to that requirement; otherwise we review the actual welding conditions before proposing an option.
Q2 Can Sunmy match an existing cap, electrode shank, or customer standard?
Yes. A dimensioned drawing is preferred, but we can also review an approved physical cap and the mating shank. For ISO-style female caps, ISO 5821:2025 and ISO 1089 can be used as references. Critical taper fit and weld-face geometry are confirmed on samples before repeat production.
Q3 What information do you need for quotation and sample approval?
Send the 2D/3D drawing or benchmark sample, required alloy, shank or taper details, weld-face geometry, estimated annual volume, and any inspection or documentation requirements. Prototype and pilot batches are supported. Formal lead time and production plan are confirmed after the material, geometry, finishing, and quantity are reviewed.
Q4 How should electrode-cap life be evaluated?
There is no universal cycle-life figure that applies to every cap. Service life depends on the sheet material and coating, weld current, force, cooling, dressing interval, face geometry, and electrode material. We control the agreed material, dimensions, and inspection characteristics; the final life target should be validated on the customer welding line.
Q5 Can Sunmy supply matching shanks, adapters, or related copper components?
Yes. Matching shanks, adapters, holders, turned copper parts, and supporting brackets can be reviewed within the same project when drawings or mating samples are provided. Each component is quoted separately with its material, process route, inspection scope, and supply boundary clearly identified.
